Checking your rate through this site uses a soft credit inquiry, so shopping doesn't affect your score. A soft inquiry appears only on your own copy of your credit report and isn't visible to other lenders. If you accept an offer and move forward with a lender, that lender will usually run a hard inquiry as part of final approval, which can lower your score by a few points for a short time. Rate shopping in a short window keeps the effect small.

Have your ID, Social Security number, income details, and checking account information ready before you start. Lenders may verify your identity, employment, income, and bank account before approval. If your credit is frozen at any bureau, lift the freeze temporarily so lenders can access your file; you can refreeze right after the decision. If you're using Experian Boost, allow a day or two after your last utility payment for the update to appear on your report.

Once you e-sign, funds usually arrive by ACH deposit within one to two business days. Signing earlier in the day, before the lender's funding cutoff, gives you the best chance of next-business-day money; weekends and bank holidays push it back.
