How we research
We base our content on primary sources: lender disclosures and loan agreements, federal regulations such as the Truth in Lending Act and the Military Lending Act, guidance from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission, and official product pages from companies like Experian. When we cite numbers, we note that they are typical ranges and date our updates.

How we review
Each article is checked for accuracy before publishing and reviewed at least every six months, or sooner when laws or products change. Each page shows its last-updated date.
Independence
Lender compensation does not influence our reviews, ratings, or guides. When we review a service that competes with ours, such as Experian's loan marketplace, we say so and describe its strengths fairly.
